Justrite 17 Gallon, 1 Shelf, 2 Doors, Self Close, Sure-Grip EX Piggyback, Flammable Safety Cabinet in Yellow - 891720
The Justrite Sure-Grip® EX Piggyback Safety Cabinet with Self Close Doors (model 891720) is designed for the storage and segregation of flammable liquids in lab, construction, or engineering settings.
With exterior dimensions of 24 in H x 43 in W x 18 in D (610 mm H x 1092 mm W x 457 mm D, its low-height design allows you to expand available storage by 17 gal (64 l) without taking up valuable floor space.
Use independently on bench tops or stack on top of 30 or 45 gal (114/170 l) Justrite safety cabinets. It can also be mounted on a wall with an optional wall hanger assembly (model 25950).
This yellow model is constructed with a sturdy 18-gauge (1-mm) thick steel double-wall, with 1.5 in (38 mm) of insulating air space for fire resistance. The fully welded, not riveted, construction holds the squareness of the unit for a longer life and offers greater protection in a fire since air gaps are reduced.
High-performance, self-closing doors open to a full 180 degrees. A patented, concealed self-close mechanism provides obstruction-free access to shelf space. The doors self-index to guarantee they will close in tightly sequence. Continuous piano hinges ensure the doors close smoothly every time.
When used properly as designed, safety cabinets with self-closing doors shut automatically in case of a fire. The self-closing doors, under tension, are held open by using fusible links.
Under fire conditions, when the ambient temperature reaches 165 F (74 C), the links melt and the safety cabinet’s self-closing doors automatically swing shut. The self-latching system engages with three stainless steel bullet-slams located at the top, bottom, and center locations of the door. For replacement fusible links, order model 29988.
For added security, each cabinet comes with an innovative U-Loc™ handle that does not require manual rotation to engage the mandatory latch. Cabinets include a cylinder lock and key set, or you can choose to use your own padlock.
Haz-Alert™ reflective warning labels that read “FLAMMABLE – KEEP FIRE AWAY” are highly visible under fire conditions or during power outages when illuminated with a flashlight.
Model 891720 features one patented, galvanized steel SpillSlope® shelf designed to direct spills to the back and bottom into a 2-in (51-mm) leak-tested sump that meets EPA requirements.
Adjustable on 3-in (76-mm) centers, all SpillSlope shelves meet ANSI MH28.1 standards with a 350-lb (159-kg) safe allowable load. Welded shelf hangers interlock with the shelf to offer maximum stability with no flimsy brackets to lose. For replacement shelves, use model 29937.
The cabinet also features dual vents with flame arresters, four adjustable self-leveling feet, and a built-in grounding connector. Its durable lead-free epoxy/polyester powder-coat finish provides excellent chemical resistance inside and out, as well as minimizes the effects of corrosion and humidity.
