BRK First Alert Hardwired Photoelectric Smoke Alarm with 2x AA Battery Backup - Model # SM6W01A

The BRK First Alert Hardwired SM6W01A Smoke Alarm uses photoelectric smoke sensing technology to detect smoke.

Photoelectric sensing technology is generally more sensitive at detecting large particles, which tend to be produced in greater amounts by smoldering fires, when compared to ionization smoke sensing technology. These types of fires may smolder for hours before bursting into flames. Sources of smoldering fires may include cigarettes burning in couches or bedding for example.
